Percilla Wills

Meet Percilla Wills, a native of the DMV, a passionate educator and a small business owner. Growing up around educators, Percilla always knew she wanted to be a teacher since the young age of 5. Percilla jumped right into education at Hofstra University, took on education head first in college, majoring in History and Educational Studies. Throughout her college career, she interned and worked in schools throughout the Long Island area, deepening her passion and commitment to students.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts, Percilla was accepted into the AmeriCorps program, City Year, leading to a move to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. City Year is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing support and mentorship to students in underserved schools through academic support, mentorship, and various activities aimed at improving students' attendance, behavior and overall academic performance. Percilla committed to the success of students in low-income communities, providing them with the resources and guidance they need to reach their full potential. Along with her volunteer work in the classroom, Percilla and her team created a daily lunch club to better the social and self awareness of elementary and middle school girls, through a self- revised “Girl Talk” curriculum.

After successfully completing the City Year program, Percilla was one of the few in her program invited to teach at one of the partnered schools. Over the next several years, she taught both elementary and middle school, really finding her groove for teaching and deepening her passion for education. With a heart full of enthusiasm and a mind fueled by curiosity, Percilla always strived to create a vibrant and engaging learning environment for her students.

During the summer of 2020, Percilla moved back to the DMV area and was invited to return to teach at Bishop McNamara High School, her Alma Mater. During her four years working at Bishop McNamara she taught all grades, focusing on History, Psychology and Advanced Placement Psychology. Outside of the classroom at Bishop McNamara, she served as sponsor for the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, as well as a dedicated mentor to incoming teachers.

Being an educator for almost a decade, Percilla not only embraces the responsibility of nurturing young minds but understands the profound impact that a caring mentor can have on a student's life. Education is her life’s work and ensuring students reach their full potential is always her goal. Being a dedicated teacher, she not only imparts wisdom within the walls of the classroom but also fosters a love for learning that extends far beyond textbooks.

Working with the Flaherty Family Foundation as the College Advisor for Region 2 - Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., she aims to guide and support both students and families in navigating the complex, and often overwhelming process of college admissions.
